Despite going under to Queen's Park in the final round yesterday, southern powerhouse PowerGen will play Moosai Sports in the quarter-finals of the Sunday League cricket series today at Syne Village, Penal today. The PowerGen supporters will be keen to welcome home Dave Mohammed who now plays for Moosai Sports. Mohammed was a mainstay for the club for over a decade and will be looking to pull one over his former club. Yesterday, Queen's Park batting first against PowerGen, was bowled out for 150 in exactly 50 overs. Top scoring was Runako Morton with 25 and also getting into double figures were Darren Bravo 22, and Ricardo Paty 21. National off-spinner Sherwin Ganga continued his good form, taking 3/15, while Kavesh Kantasingh took 2/32 abd Brent Harriot 3/32.
Sunil Narine then weaved his magic for the Parkites, as they bowled out PowerGen for 105 in 44 overs. Gibran Mohammed top scored with 32, as Narine took 2/9 from eight overs. QPCC will meet Comets today in their quarter-final clash at Pierre Road in Charlieville.Although the Parkites topped Group A, they have surrendered home advantage because the Queen's Park Oval in not available. Merryboys finished as winners of Group B, after they dismantled Bamboo by 37 runs at Bamboo Number 2. Batting first Merryboys made 174 all out with Clifton Halls getting 54, Franklyn Rouse 31 and Alcindo Holder 25. Bamboo in reply made 137 all out with Dillon Pattia scoring 37 not out and Guyanese Krishna Arjune 28. Javed Ramdhanie continued his good form with 4/40, while Emile Rajah snared 3/33.
