T&T A duo of Ayana Dyette and Elki Phillip and the T&T B pair of Pauline Woodroffe and Malika Charles continued their quest for a spot in the 2012 London Olympic Games in the penultimate phase of the qualifiers last evening when it faced Central American counterpart Guatemala in the NORCECA Women’s Inter Zonal Beach Volleyball Continental Cup, in Mal Pais Costa Rica. T&T and Guatemala are among the ten Central American (Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua) and Caribbean (Barbados, Curacao, Jamaica and Cayman Islands), vying for a top four place, and ultimately the zone finals from the Central Region in Nayarit, Mexico, on June 19-24. Last evening, El Salvador was set to take on the Cayman islands, while Nicaragua took on Jamaica ion the first series of the double elimination competition. Hosts Costa Rica and Barbados, the top-ranked teams, will play the winners of the best-of-five series in a second round that also features the contests of Panama against Curacao and T&T versus Guatemala.
