Aaron Prince showed his true qualities when he defeated Defence Force opponent Leon Nottingham for the welterweight title at the Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Boxing Association National Boxing Championship which came off on Sunday night at the Woodwork Youth Facility, Woodbrook. Andrew Fermin, who had an increase in his weight and had a comfortable victory over Sheldon Lawrence in the lightheavy weight division. Black Hawks Stephen Charles was dominated by Michael Alexander, who caused the up set of the tournament when he defeated American-based Glenford Nickki Jr in the semifinal round. Another American-based, Carlos Surez of Ohio, and Lexon Bates of Ontario Canada both secured comfortable victories in the welterweight division against Arshad Fabien and Ryan Persad respectively. Alexander along with Surez, Fermin and Bates are some of the finalists in-line for Olympic Games qualifiers which will start next month.
