Justin Guillen, Denesh Ramdin, and Nicholas Sookdeosingh each scored match-winning hundreds to guide their respective teams to the semifinals of the T&T Cricket Board’s Sunday League Premiership 50 Over Competition as the knockout phase began around the country yesterday. At Pierre Road, skipper Guillen raced to 109 off 86 balls as QPCC racked up 200 for six in 30 overs against Alescon Comets. Darren Bravo (30) and Ricardo Patty (30 n.o.) also chipped in to give the defending champs a competitive total.

In reply, Comets succumbed to the pace of T&T fast bowler Shannon Gabriel (6-0-25-5), limping to 92 all out in 24.2 overs. In next weekend’s semifinals the Parkites will square off against T&TEC, who crushed SIS Central Sports by 110 runs at Point Lisas. Ramdin (104) also played freely, smashing nine fours and four sixes to rally T&TEC to 229 for six in 40 overs. He was supported by Azrudeen Mohammed (30) and Akiel Cooper (28) while offspinner Alex Antoine grabbed three for 56.

Losing wickets regularly, Central Sports collapsed for 119 in 30.4 overs with Ancil Bhagan (3-29) and Visham Ramroop (2-25) doing the majority of the damage. Meanwhile at Syne Village, Sookdeosingh hit an unbeaten 104 in Powergen’s 36-run win over Moosai Sports. Aided by Sherwin Ganga (29) and Evin Lewis (21), he propelled PowerGen to 204 for four in just 31 overs batting first. Ganga then stepped up with the ball, snaring three for 15 as Moosai were reduced to 168 for nine. PowerGen’s semifinal opponents will be Ceramic Merryboys, who advanced to the final four when their match against Esmeralda in St Clair was abandoned due to rain.
