Lightning struck twice as T&TEC's "Electricity Boys" reemerged as leaders of the Digicel T&T Pro League following second win in as many matches against Defence Force, this time a 3-1 result, in the second match of a rescheduled Round One Match Day Four fixture at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, on Tuesday. Goals from Kevon Neaves and Bevon Bass late on secured T&TEC's second win in five days, and two places higher than it was before kickoff, pushing the team into the top spot. Aubrey David headed home the first goal in the 16th minute through a Neaves freekick, before the soldiers recovered to level the scores with a cleverly worked Josimar Belgrave goal just after the restart. Following Belgrave's goal, both teams had their chances at an advantage, in particular a deflected Neaves' effort narrowly missing the target for T&TEC, and Sean Narcis' miscued close range effort for Defence Force just after the hour-mark. The goalkeepers on both ends, Marvin Phillip for T&TEC and Defence Force's Kevin Graham, were made to come up big on a couple of occasions, but chances were ultimately left begging after some questionable finishing.
With time running down, however, T&TEC's Bass found a hand in both goals, which saw his team take an ever vital lead and eventual win. In the 83rd minute, Bass swung in a crisp cross which would slotted home by Neaves, just three minutes before Bass himself volleyed past Graham to give his side an unassailable 3-1 lead. T&TEC, coached by Dexter Cyrus, secured its second consecutive win over the soldiers, which put the team on 25 points, one greater than second place W Connection and two more than Caledonia AIA. In the earlier match on the evening, which was also a rescheduled match from Round One Match Day Four, Police smarted from a 5-2 thrashing, just five days earlier, to draw 2-2 with second-from-bottom St Ann's Rangers in a clash of the bottom two teams.
Police, however, could and maybe should have taken all three points, had it not been from a strike in time added on from Rangers' Kaashif Thomas who bagged a brace on the day. It was the second equalising goal for Thomas and Rangers. After Kareem Young opened for Police with a minute left in the first half, Thomas equalised almost midway through the first half. The "lawmen" struck back and found its second lead of the match, just two minutes after Thomas' equalizer when Wesley John headed from a set play. Police, however, fell victim to a set piece themselves, as Rangers' Thomas bagged his second goal with the final whistle looming.
