Emmanuel Stewart retained this Mid East Athletic Conference (MEAC) Weight throw title with a record throw on the second day of the 2012 MAEC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George S&L Complex on Saturday in Landover, Maryland, USA. The Morgan State/T&T athlete dominated the event winning with 18.01m to smash the previous champion record of 16.79 which he set in taking the 2011 title. The 2008 Carifta boys under 20 discus champion's shortest throw of the competition of 17.20 was superior to the best of second place Xavier Molette of South Carolina State. Stewart contested the shot put event on Saturday. Compatriot and school mate Jeanille Ovid was unable to hold on to her women's high jump title. Ovid was beaten into sixth with a leap of 1.62m, well below her 1.70m winning jump one year ago. Shermund Allsop (LSU) set a personal best in the men's 60m clocking 6.89 in finishing eighth in the 60m finals at the LSU Twilight Meet in Baton Rouge Louisiana on Friday. The 2010 World Junior sprint relay bronze medallist was seventh in the heats clocking 6.92. Fellow LSU runner Ade Alleyne-Forte got in some speed work finished 24th in the heats clocking 7.02.
