Trinidad and Tobago's senior footballers scored their first win for 2012 with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Antigua/Barbuda at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground on Wednesday evening. Caledonia AIA striker Devorn Jorsling ensured that T&T were not made to rue numerous missed opportunities in the first half with a hattrick, netting in the in the 58th, 70th and 78th minutes. Substitute Willis Plaza struck the fourth goal in the 82nd . Jorsling had a first half penalty saved while Richard Roy, the Defence Force forward, muffed three clear cut chances. Kevon Carter also squandered a first half opportunity in which T&T totally dominated proceedings. Midfielder Ataulla Guerra also went close, powering an effort which forced goalkeeper Molvin James to save low down, injuring himself in the process.
Following a quickly taken short free kick, Jorsling kept his composure to slot past James for a 1-0 T&T lead.
Jamal Jack then had a header crash off the crossbar following a right side corner before T&T doubled their advantage. Jorsling this time collecting unmarked inside the penalty box before slapping past the hapless custodian. It wasn't before long before Jorsling punished a napping Antiguan defence with another well taken effort to push T&T 3-0 ahead. T&T interim head coach Hutson Charles introduced Willis Plaza and he got in on the scoring act, converting from close up for a 4-0 T&T lead. "It's a great feeling to score a hattrick for the national team in an international match," Jorsling said moments after the win. The T&T team, captained by goalkeeper Marvin Phillip in Wednesday's match, returns home on Thursday morning.
