Holy Name Convent turned the tables on Bishop Anstey on Saturday to capture the Secondary Schools Water Polo League title in the Form One girls category. Bishop Anstey was first on the score sheet with a goal from Leah Dos Santos in the second minute. However, Holy Name responded two minutes later with an equaliser from Shemiyah Dow-Ross. With just 23 seconds left in the first six-minute quarter, Taylor-Marie Daniel forged the Holy Name team ahead 2-1. At the start of the second quarter, spectators were convinced that this was a fierce battle as both teams worked hard. Bishop's Onica Taylor eventually broke through half way through the period to tie the scores, but later missed an opportunity to take the lead when Holy Name's goalie Jewel Antoine saved a penalty shot. At half time, the scores remained level.
Into the third period another penalty was saved, this time by Bishop Anstey goalie, Sian Agard, who denied the Holy Name girls. Taylor put Bishop Anstey ahead with just over three minutes remaining in the period. In the last quarter, the battle continued with tight defence on both sides. Rayanne Bristol gave Holy Name the equaliser with two minutes remaining which caused the game to go into extra time as Bishop Anstey after regulation time ended in a 3-3 draw. The first of the two three-minute periods saw serious defence on both ends, as the score remained the same. Just when it seemed the game was going to be decided on penalty shots, Holy Name squeezed the winning goal past Agard, with just 23 seconds remaining, for the successful defence of their 2011 title. Also, on Saturday night, St Joseph's Convent took the bronze, as they defeated Providence Girls' Catholic School. Fatima went on to defeat QRC to take the title in the form one boys category.
