Super Industrial Services Limited launched its 2012 edition of the much acclaimed Industrial Cricket League on Friday March 2, at the Plipdeco Ground in Point Lisas. The hosts showcased their willingness to defend their league title with a mini tournament win over rivals, T&TEC, on an opening night to remember. From the outset SIS was clearly the more prepared team as they powered their way through the round robin tournament to emerge victorious at the end. Splendid bowling from Shival Sakawat and good numbers from Ajay Ajodha and Dianand Mahase ensured that the defending champions were no push over. T&TEC also looked impressive coming into the final as they demolished teams with their all round performance; particularly the bowling of team captain, Devindra Kangal. Participating in the tournament this year are companies from around the Point Lisas Industrial Estate such as NGC, Industrial Plant Services Limited, T&TEC, Powergen, Plipdeco, Nu Iron, Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, Yara, PCS Nitrogen, TCL, Industrial Gases Limited and Air Liquide. League Co-ordinator Kheegon Daly, expressed his delight with the display of sporting camaraderie that has become synonymous with the competition. Being in its fourth year, Daly also explained, "Nowhere can we see such a brotherhood among companies. We have truly set a standard to be proud of and we can only hope to emulate this behavior yet again this year." League games will be played at the Plipdeco ground as well as IPSL ground within the Industrial estate all month long with a grand final scheduled for April 27.
