Maniram "Boboy" Maharaj had a great day last week saddling three winners on the eight-race programme. That was the best performance by the veteran for some years and on Saturday, he will be looking to continue his winning sequence, when he saddles First To Fly in the feature 1,600 metres turf event, for horses rated 90 and over. First To Fly won the Independence Cup last year but has not been at the same level since. However, First To Fly has been given a break by his shrewd trainer and with apprentice Nigel Flavenney booked, this horse must go close. Maharaj also saddles Blackstone Street which will be ridden by Keishan Balgobin. At his best this one could upset them all. Also in the line-up is former Gold Cup winner, Cactus Amour which will take along the top-weight of 56.5 kilos.When entries were taken for the eight event a total of 69 horses were recorded.
