In prepa­ra­tion for the up­com­ing NORCE­CA Olympic Qual­i­fy­ing tour­na­ments, T&T's se­nior men and women record­ed con­sec­u­tive wins in friend­ly match­es against vis­it­ing French Guiana teams at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo on Sat­ur­day. The na­tion­al men's team eas­i­ly dis­posed of its op­po­nents in straight sets 25-18, 25-15, 25-17, just a day af­ter in­flict­ing a sim­i­lar re­sult on the vis­i­tors. The Gideon Dick­son coached team used the match­es in prepa­ra­tion for the up­com­ing Olympic qual­i­fiers, where the team is card­ed to meet de­fend­ing Olympic cham­pi­on USA, as well as for­mi­da­ble op­po­nents in Mex­i­co and Cos­ta Ri­ca.

The com­pe­ti­tion will take place from May 7-12 at the Wal­ter Pyra­mid, Long Beach, Cal­i­for­nia. T&T's women were al­so vic­to­ri­ous for the sec­ond straight match against thire South Amer­i­can op­po­nents. They won 25-9, 25-22, 25-17. The women al­so won their match on Fri­day 25-23, 25-13, 25-18. The women's team, coached by Fran­cis­co Cruz, will meet Cu­ba and Cos­ta Ri­ca in Pool B for the NORCE­CA Women's Olympic Qual­i­fi­ca­tion tour­na­ment from April 27 to May 6, in Mex­i­co. In the oth­er match on the night, T&T's Un­der-23 men re­quired five sets (25-21, 16-25, 25-18, 21-25, 13-12) to de­feat the same op­po­nents.
