Num­ber one seed Akiel Duke yes­ter­day had a walk in park vic­to­ry when he de­feat­ed Che Sanchez 6-1 6-0 in the Un­der-18 quar­ter­fi­nal of the Catch Na­tion­al Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship, at the Ed­die Tay­lor Pub­lic Courts, St Clair. The 18-year-old Sig­nal Hill stu­dent de­scribed his per­for­mance as a match of good serves and vol­leys. "In the first set it was all about good serves and good vol­leys and in the sec­ond, my con­fi­dence went up."

Duke will face fel­low To­bag­on­ian Ty Abra­ham to­day in the semi­fi­nal. Abra­ham had a thrilling win over Ethan Am­mon 7-5, 6-4. Amond de­scribed the match as chal­leng­ing who at­tends Bish­ops High said it was a chal­leng­ing match.
