With the West Indies three wickets down for 49 runs and still needing a further 262 runs to reach Australia's first innings effort of 311, batsman Michael Hussey says this morning's session will be the crucial factor in this Test. Speaking at the conclusion of the second day's play, Hussey said: "They have two quality players in Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Darren Bravo and we need to get them early in the first session. If we don't, we can be in for a long session. That first session is the big session and is crucial as far as this Test go." Hussey said the Australians are prepared to be patient for wickets and will be focussed on the job at hand today. "Our score of 311 is a good score, although you can't judge it 100 percent because they have not completed their first innings yet. However, there is some help out there for the spinners and as the match goes on batting will become more difficult on that pitch. Hussey the benefactor of two chances top-scored for the Australians with 73 runs.
Meanwhile, the West Indies team remains confident according to fast bowler Kemar Roach. "We have lost some early wickets but we are still confident of getting past their score and even going on to win the Test match. "We have two good batsmen in there, Shiv as you know is really difficult to dislodge and of course Bravo had a good year last year, so are still in the game and are confident." Roach finished with 5/105 in the first innings and thinks that he is maturing as a bowler. "What I have noticed is that as I progress in my career taking wickets is getting more difficult, so I have to continuously lift my game. The ball did a bit for me in the first innings, so I just hit my areas and kept up my pace and it worked for me. (See Page 60)
