Hutchinson second in UTECH 100
Ayanna Hutchinson was the top local performer at the University of Technology (UTECH) Knights Track and Field International Classic at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday. Hutchinson finished second in the women’s invitational 100m dash. The 2010 CAC Games runner up clocked 11.72 but was beaten to the line by Jamaica’s reigning year’s World University Champion Carrie Russell (11.39) with another Jamaican Deandre Whitehorne (11.80). Teenager Lisa Wickham was fifth in 12.10.
World 100 champion Yohan Blake (Jamaica) blazed to victory in the men’s 100 blue ribbon event in a world leading time and meet record time of 9.90 seconds. Blake then paced his Racers Track Cluib to the top spot in the men’s 4X100m relay in another world leading and meet record time of 37.82. Danny Gualbance missed out on a top three finish in the men’s 1500m taking fourth in 4 mins 7.45 seconds. Emmanuel Callander was seventh in the men’s 200m in 20.88. In the men’s 400m Stan Waithe was 11th quickest overall in 47.76 and. Justin Maloney was 14th (48.06). Jamil James failed to finish.
