Alan­na Lewis scored the de­ci­sive goal as Paragon came from be­hind to edge Ven­tures 2-1 and re­main the lone un­beat­en team in the T&T Hock­ey Board Women's Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion at the Na­tion­al Hock­ey Cen­tre, Tacarigua, on Sat­ur­day night. Ear­ly on, it looked as though Paragon would taste its first loss in six match­es this sea­son when na­tion­al for­ward Yese­nia Luces fired Ven­tures in­to the lead which it held un­til the in­ter­val. How­ev­er, on the re­sump­tion, na­tion­al strik­er Kristin Thomp­son drew Paragon lev­el be­fore her in­ter­na­tion­al team­mate Lewis slammed home the win­ner, to car­ry her club to 16 points from six match­es.

In the oth­er women's match at Tacarigua, for­mer na­tion­al cap­tain Sher­lan Cabralis rolled back the years with a hat-trick in Malvern's en­ter­tain­ing 4-4 draw with ri­val Shandy Carib Mag­no­lias. Pene­lope Sharpe, an­oth­er of Malvern's long serv­ing play­ers and na­tion­al stand-outs added the oth­er while Mag­no­lias' own pair of vet­er­ans, Stacey Siu Butt (two) and Gayle-Ann Nieves were on tar­get along with Michelle Leo­taud. Over at the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um, Ba­co­let, Train­ing Field, Blair Wynne (19th, 51st) and Kay­la Braith­waite (45th) net­ted for Notre Dame in a 3-1 whip­ping of Par­adise. Tra­cel Al­fred had tied up the match at 1-1 for Par­adise, just be­fore the half. In the lone Men's Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion match played, Notre Dame and Par­adise bat­tled to a 3-3 draw at Ba­co­let. (NS)
