Jamaican Donovan Pagon struck 75 on his club debut while Lendl Simmons hit 48 as Ceramic Merryboys were bowled out for 206 by leaders Queen's Park Cricket Club in the seventh round of the TTCB Premier Division Two-Day Tournament at the Oval in St Clair yesterday.
Merryboys' innings was undermined by Bajan allrounder Dwayne Smith (5-34), who was backed up by fellow medium pacer Ricardo Paty (3-21) and offspinner Amit Jaggernauth (2-47). Meanwhile at Syne Village, Penal, Sherwin Ganga made 93 to put Powergen in a strong position over SIS Central Sports.
Ganga topscored in Powergen's first innings total of 234, with supporting knocks coming from Gregory Mahabir (41) and Evin Lewis (36), while John Ross Jaggesar (4-34) and Gary Mathurin (3-72) were the best of the Central Sports bowlers.
In reply, Central Sports struggled to 98 for six by the end of play as spinners Samuel Badree (3-15) and Varun Samaroo (2-36) worked their way through the opposition line up. Gary Mathurin provided the lone resistance, remaining unbeaten on 42. In other matches, Wanderers left arm spinner Antonio Adams took four for 19 to help reduce Clarke Road to 92 all out at Gilbert Park. Wanderers reached 34 for three in reply.
