On a heavily overcast and rainy day, T&TEC and PCS Nitrogen met for the second time in the SIS Industrial Cricket League, this time with a place in the grand finals at stake. The nitrogen boys fell just short first time around in the group stage and were eager to make amends in the semifinals.
After losing the toss, T&TEC were sent in to bat first and were in trouble early. With only ten runs on the board, they were three wickets down by the fourth over and searching for answers. Arnold Ram and captain Devindra Kangal came together and injected some power into the innings, Ram blasting three sixes as he took the score to thirty eight before the fourth wicket fell. Wicket fell steadily after that and by the tenth over, T&TEC were only able to post a modest fifty five runs, losing eight wickets in the process.
PCS Nitrogen could almost taste victory with such a small target and a formidable batting lineup. T&TEC had other ideas though and their strong bowling once again proved to be PCS Nitrogen's kryptonite. They were two wickets down without a run on the board in the first over and seven wickets down by the seventh over for just eighteen runs as T&TEC literally tore through their opponents like a hungry predator. Unperturbed by their small total, T&TEC relied on accurate bowling and deft fielding in what was a very intense game. The game swung slightly in PCS's favour in the eighth over as they took the score from 18 to 37 but a maiden ninth over from their captain and just one run coming off the tenth over, PCS Nitrogen closed on thirty eight, giving T&TEC an unlikely victory by seventeen runs and a place for the third time in four years in the grand finals of the competition.
