T&T off-spinner Anisa Mohammed was in magnificent form with the ball, grabbing five wickets to take West Indies to an 88-run victory in the opening One-Day International of the three-match series at Kensington Oval yesterday. After the West Indies set Sri Lanka a competitive score of 228 for six off their 50 overs, Mohammed spun a web around the visiting batters, finishing with 5/34 to bowl them out for 140off 42.3 overs.

Leading the way for Sri Lanka were Dilani Manodara with 37 and Shashikala Siriwardena 34.
Also among the wickets for the West Indies was Tremayne Smartt who took 2/24. Earlier, the West Indies owed their good score to middle order batter Shanel Daley, skipper Merissa Aguilleira and opener Stafanie Taylor. The right handed Taylor struck a swift 53 and after her dismissal Daley with 63 and Aguilleira 62, took over to take the West Indies to their eventual 228. Towards the end of their innings, Stacy-Ann King scored a rapid 21.
