I had ex­pect­ed the US-bred, three-year-old, chest­nut colt, Gab­by's Gold to stamp his un­doubt­ed class on his ri­vals and run away with to­day's fea­ture 1,800 me­tres event for hors­es rat­ed 100-80 on the main track at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. How­ev­er, the Shiv­am Ma­haraj-owned colt which lost his un­beat­en tag on his sea­son­al de­but and re­bound­ed last week to win over course and dis­tance in ef­fort­less fash­ion, has been scratched. With the non-ac­cep­tance of Gab­by's Gold, sta­ble­mate Galve­ston-which is seek­ing a hat­trick on wins-should saunter home to­day.

The De­r­ick Mosca-trained cre­ole which is at his peak, should turn this event in­to a romp. Though Gab­by's Gold is a non-run­ner, own­er Ma­haraj will have no prob­lem, as he owns both thor­ough­breds. San­ti­a­go Gon­za­lez will part­ner Galve­ston and should have his great­est dif­fi­cul­ty in pulling up the colt.
