Five different players were on target as Notre Dame whipped Ventures 5-2 to close the gap on leader Paragon to one point in the T&T Hockey Board Women's Championship at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua, on Sunday night. Tamara De Nobriga, Patrina Brathwaite, Arielle du Quesnay, Blair Wynn and Dana-Lee De Gannes all found the back of the net for the Dames while Nataki Akii Bua and Lindsay Williams got Ventures replies. With the win, the Dames improved to 15 points from six matches, one behind Paragon and a match left to play to complete its first round campaign while Ventures stayed sixth with seven points.
In the other women's encounter on the night, Mindy Charles scored the lone goal as Harvard Maritime Checkers sealed the last remaining qualification spot for the "Big-Four" with a 1-0 win over Paragon. Checkers, which will face Paragon in its final first round match now has 12 points from six matches, one ahead of Shandy Carib Magnolias, which has played its seven matches. The other qualifier for the women's "Big-Four" is defending league champion Malvern, third on the table with 13 points. The four qualifiers from the Men's Championship Division for the Big-Four series have already been determined in defending league champion, Petrotrin (18 points), Paragon (15 points), last year's winners Defence Force (15 points) and Queen's Park (12 points).
