Olympic cycling prospect, Njisane Phillip, winner in the Match Sprint event at the recently concluded Pan American Championship, has secured the sponsorship of bottled-water company Oasis Premium Purified Water. Oasis has signed on to become Phillip's official bottled-water sponsor as he prepares for the London 2012 Olympics, this summer. Oasis, and its parent company SM Jaleel, which has been involved in the sponsorship of several sports locally, has said that it is "thrilled to be a part of the young athlete's growth," according to SM Jaleel's Group Marketing Manager, Donella de Verteuil. "We believe in Caribbean talent and have always been proud to support local and regional athletes. Oasis Premium Purified Water is proud to be an integral part of Njisane's journey to success," de Verteuil continued.
In response, Phillip lauded the sponsor saying, "For a company like Oasis to come on board with me is really important and I am very empowered by their decision to invest in my development. After all the government can't be expected to do everything." Phillip has impressed in recent years, and has made waves in the last six months with a number of world class performances. "It means a lot for me to represent T&T at the highest level, I have had to sacrifice a lot and have been training really hard since I was 17 years old so this is a dream come true," he said on the achievements. Njisane was recently confirmed as qualified for the upcoming London Olympics and despite knowing that all eyes will be on him in his preparation for the Games just around the corner, he insisted that he feels no pressure. "It's all on me to make good of all the dedication and hard work I put in," he said.
