The Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) took an­oth­er con­vinc­ing win, its sec­ond of the cam­paign, when it de­feat­ed Diego Mar­tin All Stars 70-59, in the North Zone Bas­ket­ball Com­mis­sion's Men's First Di­vi­sion, on Sun­day. It was the third fix­ture of a triple-head­er, played at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Wright­son Road. The match fol­lowed a Bri­an Chase Acad­e­my 53-47 tri­umph over Diego Mar­tin All Stars in the Women's Di­vi­sion and a Sec­ond Di­vi­sion match which saw Barataria Sweaters de­feat Cale­do­nia Clip­pers, 76-60.

In the fea­ture match-up, it was a strong dis­play from UTT trio, cap­tain Kern George, and for­wards Jef­frey Har­ris and Kevon Nor­eiga, who sealed a com­fort­able win in the end for one of the stand­out teams in the re­cent­ly con­clud­ed Mack­e­son Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League. George again led the team, tak­ing 18 points, fol­lowed by Har­ris and Nor­eiga, who net­ted 14 and 12 points, re­spec­tive­ly for the win­ners. UTT led 27-21 at half time and fur­ther pressed for­ward to en­sure a se­cure win in the end.

Ear­li­er, Sec­ond Di­vi­sion Barataria Sweaters made light work of Cale­do­nia Clip­pers' 'B' team, tak­ing the match by 16 points. Kevin Nurse and Ter­rence Jones im­pressed with 21 points and 18 points, re­spec­tive­ly, for the win­ners. Clip­pers' Mar­cus Hume and Joel Camp­bell could on­ly bag 10 points apiece, in the team's loss. Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League women's cham­pi­on Bri­an Chase Acad­e­my (BCA) al­so record­ed a rel­a­tive­ly com­fort­able vic­to­ry over Diego Mar­tin All Stars. BCA, how­ev­er, lost some mo­men­tum in the sec­ond half af­ter lead­ing 31-18 af­ter the first two pe­ri­ods. N'ne­ka Jones and Afeisha Noel were the best play­ers for BCA, as they end­ed with 18 and 14 points, re­spec­tive­ly. Diego Mar­tin All Stars' tal­ent­ed for­ward Ani­ka Not­ting­ham took 16 points, while Saman­tha Wal­lace made 13.
