Newly appointed president of the Surfing Association of T&T (SATT), Che Lovelace, has signalled his commitment to work on the development of surfing in the country. Lovelace made this intention clear following the association's recent appointment of new management which will be responsible for the development of the sport for a two-year term. Lovelace said that he intended to put more time, effort and resources into working on the developmental aspects of the sport. This includes introducing surfing to more young people while keeping an eye out for possible competitive talent.
The president sees surfing as an important recreational activity and expects the SATT to assist in creating clubs, especially in coastal areas that can give existing surfers, as well as interested youth, a focus. "Essentially, SATT should help foster parental involvement in the surfing and beach-going activities of their kids. If we can help the folks with similar interests to participate in a kind of family day situation, we will fulfil a social function while encouraging and keeping an eye out for talent," Lovelace expressed.
The members of the committee are: Che Lovelace (President), Keith Lewis (Vice-president), Warren Rostant (Treasurer), Ravin Ramkissoon, Christopher Dennis and Sherrard Spiers (Officers).
