T&T all rounder Kevon Cooper, in a recent interview on his return to T&T, spoke about his recent stint with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Cooper returned to T&T last Thursday after fracturing his knee while attempting a full length catch during an Indian Premier League match against Delhi Daredevils on April 29. Cooper admitted that it was not a good feeling, after only playing six games for the IPL outfit. "I chipped a bone in my knee and tore a ligament, I am out for six weeks, I really miss playing in the IPL it's good to be back home but not under these conditions," he said.
"Playing in the IPL is a big thing for me and its an honour to play with Rahul Dravid and Shaun Tait. The IPL was very good and hopefully I can be there next year," said Cooper, when asked about his first IPL experience. Cooper, who took four wickets and made 14 runs not out, was confident bout his performance and would make a return for next year's season. "I think I made a name for my self when I went out there (IPL). Not much people knew me and getting four wickets and 14 runs in the end, it was a dream come true. I cherish every moment of it but its a disappointing way to end my IPL this way," he said.
The 23-year-old right-handed batsman also recalled the incident, admitting that it was an emotional time knowing that his season was over. He said: "I landed and I hit my knee trying to save a six. I actually cried. I really enjoyed the IPL and I am looking forward to recovering." Cooper indicated that his main focus was to be back in time to represent T&T in the upcoming champions league. "It's a disappointing end but good to be back home with friends and family" he said. "I'm seeing a specialist so I can begin my therapy and work on it. Hopefully I can be back in four weeks if not six weeks. I'm looking forward to getting back on the field soon and my main goal is for the T&T team in the champions league coming up. Hopefully we can do better this time."
