Af­ter pro­duc­ing out­stand­ing per­for­mances at the na­tion­al tri­als, Sachin Ku­mar, Wan Ju Lee and Di­nesh Jack­ree have once again shot their way on­to T&T's 14-mem­ber squad for the 25th an­nu­al Caribbean Am­a­teur Ju­nior Golf Cham­pi­onships (CA­JGC).

Last night T&T's Golf As­so­ci­a­tion (T&TGA) Pres­i­dent, Ken­ny At­tai, an­nounced the team for the cham­pi­onships which will be held at the Guavaber­ry Golf and Coun­try Club in Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic from Ju­ly 2–6. Jack­ree, Lee and Ku­mar, three promis­ing mem­bers of last year's ju­nior team, shone on the sec­ond day of tri­als held last week­end at the St An­drew's Golf Club in Mo­ka, Mar­aval.

The dy­nam­ic trio was in fine form and pro­duced three sub-par rounds. Thir­teen-year-old Ku­mar shot five un­der par 67 while Lee and Jack­ree, both com­pet­ed in the boys 14-15 cat­e­go­ry, shoot­ing one un­der 71. On the first day of tri­als, which took place at the Mil­le­ni­um Lakes Golf Club, 15-year-old Jack­ree al­so took the spot­light end­ing on a su­perb round of lev­el par 71. This year's team com­pris­es a mix of ex­pe­ri­enced play­ers in­clud­ing stal­wart Robert Boocock who will be com­pet­ing for his last time as a ju­nior, new com­er to the un­der-13 cat­e­go­ry Sab­ri­na Mitchell, and 16-year-old Matthew Mar­quez who anx­ious­ly re­turns home to play in his fourth Caribbean Ju­nior Cham­pi­onship. Mitchell is joined by Ser­e­na Mac Ken­zie who re­cent­ly won the girls un­der-13 cat­e­go­ry at the Re­pub­lic Bank spon­sored Caribbean Ju­nior Cham­pi­onships.

The an­nu­al tour­na­ment is held over 54 holes and sees young play­ers from eight coun­tries com­pete in three age group cat­e­gories.

Along­side the grand prize of the Hank James Tro­phy for the high­est scor­ing coun­try, is the com­pe­ti­tion for the ju­nior boys play­ing in the boys 16-17 and 14-15 age groups where the high­est ac­cu­mu­lat­ed score al­so wins the coun­try the chance to rep­re­sent the re­gion at the qual­i­fi­er for the Ju­nior World Team Cham­pi­onships.
