Only four teams remain, and each Pro League club will feel they have an equal chance of lifting the $100,000 Digicel Pro Bowl. This evening, action continues in the semifinal stage of the competition with two mouth watering fixtures, at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Beginning at 6 pm, the first match of the double-header will see reigning Pro League champions, W Connection taking on Caledonia AIA. The "Savonetta Boys" are off a busy week in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship, taking wins on Sunday and Tuesday, before playing its final group stage match last evening.
The team is expected to be slightly exhausted from the week's action, but should have most of its players recuperating with a second-string line-up would have challenged the CFU fixture against Antigua Barracuda, as W Connection has already qualified for the knock-out stage. Connection, despite fielding an under-strength quad in the quarter-final stage of the Pro Bowl, last Friday, defeated Police 1-0. Caledonia is expected to feature a strong team, consisting of the players who helped take home a treble of trophies this season: the Lucozade Sports Shield, the First Citizens Cup and the FA Trophy. T&TEC and Defence Force will challenge the second double-header match from 8 pm.
The "Electricity Boys" will be seeking their first piece of silverware for the season after missing out on the Pro League title on the last match day. The team also ruing losses in the final of the First Citizens Cup and the Toyota Classic, and will be hoping that its star-studded squad will go all out, against the "Tetron Boys" which has had a season to forget thus far. T&TEC advanced to the last-four stage with a 2-1 win over DirecTV North East Stars. T&TEC has also enjoyed taking points in all three of its league encounters, with two wins (3-1, 3-0) and a draw (1-1). Defence Force, however, was a lot more assertive in its quarter-final encounter against Adam's Construction San Juan Jabloteh, with the firmer crushing the latter 6-0, with a hat-trick coming from Ross Russell Jr, and a double from regular scorer Richard Roy.
