"Skillz That Killz" became the latest team to advance to the Guinness Street Football Challenge National Final, after taking the South Zone on penalty kicks, at the expense of "The Pros", on Saturday. The one-day round robin and knock-out competition took place at Skinner Park Basketball Court. Jamal Ayres scored the sudden-death penalty, which put Skillz That Killz into the final and a chance at the grand prize of $30,000. The South Zone competition began with three groups of four teams, with the eventual winners topping its group with three straight wins.
Skillz That Killz also scored six goals, with only one conceded, thanks to the efforts of Ayres, who was the joint top scorer with four goals, on the day. Southern United's Trevor Lynch also finished on four goals. Southern United also topped its group (B), but lost out to The Pros in the semi-final. Next Saturday, the Central Zone will be contested at Edinburgh 500 Basketball Court, from 4 pm.
