West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul cemented his place as the number one batsman in Test cricket when his innings of 87 not out and 91 at Lord's further separated him from the rest of the pack in the latest ICC Rankings. Chanderpaul entered the Test in first place on 827 points and jumped to 878, leaving behind South Africans AB de Villiers (821) and Jacques Kallis (819), who occupy the second and third spots. Pakistan's Younis Khan (797) and Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara (779) round out the top five. Also on the ascent were Marlon Samuels (31 & 86), who climbed eight spots to 55th, Adrian Barath (42 & 24), who skipped 14 places to 67th , and Darren Sammy (17 & 37), who moved from 73rd to 68th.
Meanwhile, Darren Bravo (29 & 21) fell one spot to 21st, Kirk Edwards (1 & 0) plunged from 44th to 53rd and Kieran Powell (5 & 8) fell eight places to 101st. Among the bowlers, Kemar Roach (3-108 & 3-60) earned one spot to move to a career best 15th, Sammy (2-92 & 1-25) hopped two spots to 23rd , Fidel Edwards (1-88 & 0-24) fell three places to 30th and Shannon Gabriel (3-60 & 1-26) entered the chart on 180th. Sammy is also eighth in the Allrounder Rankings, which are led by Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan. South African pacer Dale Steyn continued his uninterrupted two and a half year reign as the number one bowler in Tests while Pakistani offspinner Saeed Ajmal held on to the second spot. Man of the Match at Lord's Stuart Broad (7-72 & 4-93) moved to a career best third, joining his new ball partner James Anderson (2-67 & 1-59) on 783 points while their teammate Graeme Swann (0-52 & 3-59) is in fifth.
