Wayne Leg­erton fired in a sea­son-high sev­en goals as Petrotrin ham­mered Par­adise 14-1 to stay on course to re­peat as win­ners of the T&T Hock­ey Board Men's Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion at the Na­tion­al Hock­ey Cen­tre, Tacarigua, on Sun­day. Leg­erton got his goals in the 14th, 20th, 26th, 53rd, 60th, 64th and 70th min­utes for the Oil­men, who led 4-0 at the half-time in­ter­val. At­i­ba Whit­ting­ton chipped in with a sec­ond-half hat-trick of his own in the 43rd, 54th and 62nd min­utes while Jonathan Williams, Dwain Quan Chan, Shakiel Joseph and Tris­ton Grant all added sec­ond-half items. Par­adise got its lone item from Jarel Thomp­son. With the win, its sev­enth from eight match­es, the Oil­men moved to 21 points, the same as Paragon which blast­ed Par­adise 15-1 on Sat­ur­day and has played a match more.

For Paragon, Akim Tou­s­saint (3rd, 23rd, 68th) and Alan Hen­der­son (29th, 44th, 67th) while Kiel Mur­ray (5th, 52nd), Bar­ry Clarke (9th, 39th) and Co­gie But­ler (11th, 45th) got two each to help avenged a 3-2 first round loss. There was al­so a goal each for Paragon's Joel Bod­kin, Mo­hammed Elias, and Richard Roach while Par­adise got its lone item from Ver­nell Rivers on the stroke of full-time. In an­oth­er key Men's Cham­pi­onship en­counter, third placed De­fence Force whipped Malvern 3-1. It was led by a goal each from Nicholas Wren (18th), An­tho­ny Morales (46th) and Ger­ard Fer­gu­son (59th) to can­cel out Tariq Mar­cano's 14th minute item for Malvern.

...Thomp­son sis­ters clob­ber Par­adise

The Thomp­son sis­ters, Kristin and Danielle, com­bined for five goals as Paragon crushed Par­adise 9-0 in the Women's Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion on Sat­ur­day. Kristin led the way a with a tre­ble in the 46th, 58th and 66th min­utes, while old­er sib­bling Danielle found the tar­get in the 32nd and 69th. Ke­tu­rah John-Bap­tiste and Zene Hen­ry added one each for Paragon now with 19 points from eight match­es at the top of the ta­ble, ahead of de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Malvern. Malvern stayed with­in strik­ing dis­tance of them lead­ers af­ter pound­ing De­fence Force 7-0. Krizia Layne led the on­slaught for the Malver­nites with a beaver-trick (13th, 26th, 39th, 55th), Oire Trot­man got two (48th, 52nd) and US-based Tere­sa Leza­ma, the oth­er. Har­vard Mar­itime Check­ers joined idle Notre Dame on 15 points in third spot via a 3-0 shut-out of Par­adise with two goals from Mindy Charles and one from Ke­cia Jones.
