Batswoman Leeann Kirby made a huge impact for Moosai Ladies as the league champion advanced to the semifinal round of the T&T Women Cricket Association’s Twenty20 (T20) competition. Today, the knockout champion will take on Technocrats in the first match of a double-header at the Honeymoon Park, Tunapuna from 10 am. The other semifinal will be between Phoenix Women and Spice Girls at 2 pm. Kirby influenced the results in each of her team’s four preliminary matches, to top group one. In the opening match, Kirby hit an unbeaten 32 no and combined with Chantal Emmanuel (21 no), to guide Moosai to a ten-wicket win over Achievers Women. She followed up in the second match with 48 runs as Moosai completed a 121-run victory over Cricket lovers. Kirby, later in both games three and four, put on a batting display, notching an unbeaten century (74), to help Moosai beat San Rafael Ladies by 65 runs and 47 not out in Moosai’s nine-wicket win over Spice Girls.

Today, Moosai will look to Kirby to get by Technocrats, which is in search of its second title for the season. Technocrats struggled throughout the league competition but bounced back to cop the sixes title and with the leadership of allrounder Deandra Dottin will seek to cause a major upset. The winner of that match-up will take on the winner between Phoenix Women and Spice Girls. Phoenix topped group two with wins over Hibiscus Ladies (ten wickets), Maad Rangers (ten wickets) and Technocrats (five wickets). The Phoenix unit will be led by batswomen Amanda Samaroo and Britney Cooper and bowler Felicia Walters.
