Belmont Boys RC continued their struggle in the Atlantic Primary Schools North Championships, going down to last year's winners Sangre Grande Hindu by 41 runs in their latest match. Ricardo Monsegue scored 20 to take Sangre Grande Hindu to 116 for nine off 20 overs. Sachin Soodeen then routed Belmont Boys for just 75 runs, snaring 4/9 off four fours. Meanwhile, Tunapuna Presbyterian has taken the lead in Group A of the North Championship with seven points after three matches. The man behind their success has been Kishorn Baptiste, who scored an unbeaten 48 in their last match. Leading the North B Championship is Whim AC out of Tobago with two wins from as many matches, tallying six points.
In the South Championships, Point Fortin ASJA continued their winning ways. Fielding first against Brothers Presbyterian, ASJA humbled them for just 58. Top-scoring for Brothers was S Harricharan with 17. Hasim Headley was again among the bowlers taking 2 for 13. He was however upstaged by his younger brother, Khayyam, who took 3 for 3 in two overs which included the only maiden bowled in the entire match. Also among the wickets was Renardo Soogrim who took 2 for 18.
In reply, Point Fortin ASJA romped home scoring 61 for the loss of two wickets in 9.1 overs. Josh Nagaur again top scored with an unbeaten 29 which included four fours.With him at the end was Leeron Peters who was 10 not out. He cracked 2 fours in that knock. By virtue of two back-to-back wins, Point Fortin ASJA has qualified for the national quarterfinals. They carry the hopes and aspirations of the entire St Patrick Education District as Clarke Rochard Government failed to advance following two successive defeats.
