Tears flowed as Guayaguayare RC was crowned champions of the Atlantic Primary Schools cricket league, following an 18-run victory over Londenville Girls Government in the grand finals at the Queen’s Park Oval last evening. The Londenville girls showed their disappointment at the conclusion of the game as they cried. Batting first, Guayaguayare rallied well to score 67 for five from their ten-over allotment. The game was reduced from the original 20 overs, after rain fell during the afternoon at the Oval. Leading the way for the southerners was Tishari George with 16.  When Londenville batted the team was reduced to 49 for five off their ten overs with Keonna Wright scoring a rapid 23. However, it proved insufficient as the Londenville out fell short by 18 runs. George was the best bowler for Guayaguayare taking two for ten from two overs. Her performances with the bat and ball earned her the player of the match award.
