The Min­istry of Sport will host the 19th an­nu­al Na­tion­al Youth Sport Fes­ti­val, on June 30 at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sport­ing Are­na, Or­ange Grove, Tacarigua. It is an­tic­i­pat­ed that this fes­ti­val will at­tract ap­prox­i­mate­ly 1,500 chil­dren to par­take in any of its 12 sport­ing dis­ci­plines, be­tween the hours of 7 am to 6 pm. Com­pe­ti­tion will run si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly for var­i­ous sport­ing dis­ci­plines such as net­ball, wind­ball crick­et, vol­ley­ball, ta­ble ten­nis, track and field, mar­tial arts, ten­nis and hock­ey. Spe­cial Olympic cat­e­gories (male/fe­male) will al­so be fa­cil­i­tat­ed for 5k, foot­ball, crick­et, vol­ley­ball and Boc­ce. Re­alise your pas­sion and reach for that goal. Trans­porta­tion will be pro­vid­ed at the fol­low­ing lo­ca­tions by Min­istry of Sport and Pub­lic Ser­vice Trans­port Cor­po­ra­tion.

Track and Field events in­clude: 5k (for all ages); 60m (boys and girls-Un­der-9 and 13); 80m (boys and girls-Un­der-11); 100m (boys and girls-Un­der-9, 13, 15 and 20); 200m (boys and girls-Un­der-15 and 20); 400m (boys and girls-Un­der 15 and 20); 800 Med­ley Re­lay (boys and girls-Un­der-15 ); 4x100m Re­lay (boys and girls-Un­der-13); and 4x100m Re­lay (boys and girls-Un­der 15 and 20).

One of the main ob­jec­tives of the Na­tion­al Youth Sport Fes­ti­val is to bring com­mu­ni­ties to­geth­er in pro­vid­ing sup­port for the youth and al­so to iden­ti­fy tal­ent that may be over­looked at com­mu­ni­ty lev­el. Play­ers should be 20 years and un­der to take part in ac­tiv­i­ties at the fes­ti­val. Reg­is­tra­tion forms will be made avail­able at the Dis­trict Of­fices, Sta­dia, In­door Fa­cil­i­ties and Youth Fa­cil­i­ties with con­tact num­bers for the var­i­ous events. The dead­line date for reg­is­tra­tion is June 27.
