Af­ter a de­cent run of form, Na­tion­al Flour Mills (NFM) dropped two con­sec­u­tive loss­es af­ter the team was edged 88-87 by the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT), in the North Zone Bas­ket­ball Com­mis­sion (NZBC) First Di­vi­sion, on Thurs­day. The match took place at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo, on­ly two days af­ter Strak­er Nets crushed the same team 81-54. Point-guards Jef­frey Har­ris and Kevon Nor­eiga sank 22 and 20 points, re­spec­tive­ly, in an im­por­tant win for the Uni­ver­si­ty. UTT replied from a one-point half-time deficit (41-40) to gain strong at­tack­ing mo­men­tum, which would even­tu­al­ly see them past an im­prov­ing NFM team. Flour Mills was led by its in-form for­ward Ker­ry McMil­lan who sealed 21 points. Vet­er­an for­ward Kwe­si Julien foll­wed up with 18 points for the los­ing team.

The match was fol­lowed by a Sec­ond Di­vi­sion match be­tween Ma­coya Fo­rum and Blink Trail­blaz­ers, a match in which the for­mer won 61-56. Fo­rum al­so record­ed a come­back win af­ter trail­ing 28-27 at the half. The win­ning team on­ly had two play­er score dou­ble dig­its: De­lano Ribeiro and Ka­reem Walk­er, who took 13 and 12 points, re­spec­tive­ly. Sol­id, young for­ward Ju­vani An­drews led all scor­ers in the match with 17 points. Four more match­es are sched­uled to take place to­day at the same venue. Hawks will chal­lenge Mil­len­ni­um in Un­der-19 ac­tion start­ing from 3 pm, fol­lowed by a Women's Di­vi­son match be­tween De­fence Force and Diego Mar­tin All Stars. At 6:30 pm, Mt Hope Spurs will tack­le Blink Trail­blaz­ers, be­fore the con­clud­ing Men's First Di­vi­sion fix­ture be­tween Po­lice and Diego Mar­tin All Stars.
