Glamorgan men and Technocrats women will both defend their titles when the third annual Mark Daly Invitational Volleyball Tournament serves off tomorrow until Sunday at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo. Daly a former national men's volleyball team captain and Technocrats players died in a vehicular accident on November 19, 2009 and since then the club has paid tribute to him by hosting the memorial tournament.
In the men's competition, Glamorgan which won the recently contested Caribbean Invitational Volleyball League at the same venue will do battle with beaten finalists, Technocrats which will enter two teams, as well as Zenith, South East Port-of-Sain, Southern United, Defence Force, Toco Youth Volleyball Academy and Barbadian club, Deacons, the first foreign club to enter. In the women's tournament, Technocrats will put its title on the line against last year's runner-up and reigning national and Caribbean Volleyball League champions, University of T&T, South East Port-of-Spain, Southern United and Defence Force.
Both men and women teams are expected to feature regional players from Jamaica and Barbados.
Tomorrow, matches will serve off from 4 pm with the opening ceremony at 6 pm while on Saturday and Sunday matches will take place from 9 am to 10 pm.
