Local boxer Arshad Fabiean is calling out Olympic-bound boxer Carlos Suarez to the ring before he departs for the London Games. The duo is expected to clash today, at the Jean Pierre Complex Boxing Gym, at 5 pm. Fabiean makes the calls following statements Suarez made to the media last Thursday saying that there's not enough quality sparring in T&T. "Part of me was angry but, I was more disappointed to hear Carlos saying such a thing, when in truth and in fact I had just publicly put a beating on him in full glare of the media," says an infuriated Fabiean. The Magic Boxing Gym member said that since he defeated Suarez in a bout on Thursday, the US-born athlete has been evading him.
"Since that beating on Thursday Carlos has been running from me. He was supposed to spar with me on Saturday, but instead he's claiming he doesn't want to spar until he goes to Cardiff. I want to spar with him in public really bad so I can show how much I have improved. "Yes Carlos beat me in the Championships and got the nudge to go to the Olympic Qualifier, but that was the only time we met. Just remember Duran beat Leonard in their first meeting, the world knows what happened after, it was "no mass no mass" for Duran – Leonard; for Suarez and me "it's no spar no spar." Fabiean is calling on the Olympian to take him on in the ring before he departs for the London Olympics.
"I am calling out Suarez to come spar with me before he goes off to London. Let the country see what our boxing representative is made of. I guarantee it is a big lie that there isn't proper sparring for Carlos. He has me who is beating the end out of him, he has my little brother who he can barely manage and he has Michael Alexander who will give him a boxing lesson. "Suarez is playing smart with foolishness. We are all in camp together at the Alicia's Palace and we are all out working him in the physical area, we are out working him in our drills. Right now in the strength and conditioning areas he cannot match up to me and I am literally running him out of the gym. "I didn't like how he fouled my little brother at a sparring session, he hit him after the bell was rung, I want him to try that with me. All we are trying to do is to help Carlos with his sparring in preparation for his fight at the Olympics in London. "Carlos should put up or shut up and come spar with me in public before he goes off to London!"
