Tech­nocrats made a suc­cess­ful de­fence of the women's ti­tle with a three sets win over Glam­or­gan when the cur­tain came down on the third an­nu­al Mark Daly In­vi­ta­tion­al Vol­ley­ball Tour­na­ment at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo on Sun­day night.

In the women's de­cider, a best of five sets con­test, Tech­nocrats pow­ered past Glam­or­gan 25-17, 25-21, 25-22 to col­lect the win­ner-take-all $6,000 first place cheque. It was al­so sweet re­venge for Tech­nocrats A who were beat­en by Glam­or­gan in the round-robin group stages, which was played to 15 points on Sat­ur­day, 10-15, 15-14, 15-11. Ear­li­er on in the semi­fi­nal round, Tech­nocrats 'A' de­feat­ed South­ern Unit­ed Vol­ley­ball Acad­e­my 25-7, 25-10 and Glam­or­gan stopped Big South East Port-of-Spain, 25-15, 25-17 in the two best of three sets match­es.

South­ern Unit­ed took third spot, 25-11, 25-11 over SE­PoS. In the men's Open, a new cham­pi­on was crowned when South­ern Unit­ed bat­tled past SE­PoS 25-19, 25-13, 14-25, 25-21 for the $6,000 top prize. South­ern Unit­ed reached the ti­tle match af­ter oust­ing the pre­vi­ous­ly un­beat­en To­co Youth Vol­ley­ball Acad­e­my 25-23, 22-25, 15-11 while SE­PoS stunned last year's win­ner and an­oth­er team which was un­beat­en, Glam­or­gan 25-19, 25-19. On Sat­ur­day night in the quar­ter­fi­nals, South­ern Unit­ed de­feat­ed Tech­nocrats A, SE­PoS boot­ed Bar­ba­di­an club Dea­cons 26-24, 23-25, 17-15; Glam­or­gan de­feat­ed Zenith A 25-22, 25-16 and To­co Youths boot­ed Tech­nocrats B, 25-14, 25-18.
