Carlos Beckles and Samuel Alfred emerged winners of the fourth annual T&T Contractors Association (T&TCA) Coral Cup Classic Golf Tournament held last weekend at the Mt Irvine Bay Hotel and Golf Club, Tobago. The pair was able to card a two-day net total of 19 under par 125 in the "Two Ball Better Ball" event to win by one shot over last year's winners Carlos "Sexy Baynes and Kay Berntson. Third place went to first day leaders, Bill Ramrattan and Kumar Boodram, who could only manage a second day net 67 to go with their tournament low 59 on the first day. The annual event, which seeks to promote networking among the T&TCA's local and regional partners while assisting local charities, hosted a full complement of 40 teams and participants including West Indies batting legend, Desmond Haynes and his partner, Anderson Payne from Barbados.
Chief Justice Ivor Archie also graced the greens with his partner Collin Edwards under the banner of Adams Project Management Ltd. During his vote of thanks at the prize-giving ceremony, President of the T&TCA, Mervyn Chin, expressed his gratitude to the major sponsors, TRACMAC CAT, JUSAMCO, Trinidad Cement Lyd, the Tobago House of Assembly, all the other sponsors and participating golfers. He also thanked the Chairman of the Golf Tournament Committee, Ramlogan Roopnarinesingh, Tournament Director, Richard Lara, General Manager of the TTCA, Neil Marquez, and the rest of the team for putting on a great event again this year. The charity which benefited from the proceeds of this year's event was Autism Tobago.
