Karateka Reece strikes gold

T&T karateka Keifer Reece fought his way to gold in the boys and girls beginner 8-9 division of the Musical Forms event at the US Open Karate Championships which concluded on July 14 at the Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida, USA. The two-day championship, which kicked off on July 13, saw hundreds of karatekas from all over the world converge in the Walt Disney World Resort to put their skills of agility and endurance to the test. Reece, a student of the Silver Dragon Tai Kun Do martial arts school led by Master Leeroy Bruce, entered the Championships for the first time and proved that he is definitely a force to be reckoned with. The eight-year-old Gasparillo Hindu School student admirably followed up his golden performance with a second place finish in the Creative Forms (boys and girls beginner 8-9), and a fourth place finish in Traditional Forms (boys and girls beginner 8-9).Reece also made it into the finals of the Point Sparing (8-9 beginner small boys) and Under-17 Self Defense events and received finalist medals for his achievements.
