T&T karate­ka Keifer Re­ece fought his way to gold in the boys and girls be­gin­ner 8-9 di­vi­sion of the Mu­si­cal Forms event at the US Open Karate Cham­pi­onships which con­clud­ed on Ju­ly 14 at the Coro­n­a­do Springs Re­sort in Or­lan­do, Flori­da, USA. The two-day cham­pi­onship, which kicked off on Ju­ly 13, saw hun­dreds of karatekas from all over the world con­verge in the Walt Dis­ney World Re­sort to put their skills of agili­ty and en­durance to the test. Re­ece, a stu­dent of the Sil­ver Drag­on Tai Kun Do mar­tial arts school led by Mas­ter Leeroy Bruce, en­tered the Cham­pi­onships for the first time and proved that he is def­i­nite­ly a force to be reck­oned with. The eight-year-old Gas­par­il­lo Hin­du School stu­dent ad­mirably fol­lowed up his gold­en per­for­mance with a sec­ond place fin­ish in the Cre­ative Forms (boys and girls be­gin­ner 8-9), and a fourth place fin­ish in Tra­di­tion­al Forms (boys and girls be­gin­ner 8-9).Re­ece al­so made it in­to the fi­nals of the Point Spar­ing (8-9 be­gin­ner small boys) and Un­der-17 Self De­fense events and re­ceived fi­nal­ist medals for his achieve­ments.
