Boxing champ Floyd Trumpet will be in action tonight against Kevin Placide as they battle for the Fedecaribe Super Welterweight Title at the Jerry Junction Sports Bar, Waterloo, Carapichaima. Trumpet who was set to make a return to the ring with a six-round non-title fight against Ian Blue after a three-year absence will finally his long awaited opportunity . The duo were present at the T&T Boxing Board of Control (TTBBC) Abercrombie Street Port of Spain where they both made there respective weights with Trumpet weighing 152 and Placid 154. "Preparation was good I made my weight about two weeks ago I went back up about four pounds over the past four days. I am feeling good to go," said Trumpet when asked about his preparations.
In reply, Placid said that he was all set and just need to rejuvenate himself after dropping weight to make the contest legal. "I just need to rejuvenate, preparation was good it was always difficult trying to make the required weight. One must be strategic in dropping weight. You want to maintain your strength and physical fitness and remain as healthly as possible to be fight ready." Ultimate Fight I was launched on June 28 at Mangoes Restaurant in Port-of-Spain with Placide and Trumpet. In 1994, Placide and Trumpet battled to a draw but this time both are promising a bruising, faster encounter.
