Hun­dreds of en­thu­si­asts, young and old, turned out to en­joy a day of com­pe­ti­tion at the fifth edi­tion of the Il­lu­sions Sports Club Sports and Fam­i­ly Day, host­ed at the Ma­yaro Gov­ern­ment School Ground, on Eman­ci­pa­tion Day. Even teams com­pet­ed in nov­el­ty events, with Street Vy­bez becom­ming the over­all cham­pi­ons, af­ter cop­ping the tug-of-war com­pe­ti­tion. The event was co­or­di­nat­ed by the Po­lice Ser­vice Ath­let­ics Club, with mu­sic pro­vid­ed by the Ma­yaro-based Malachi In­ter­na­tion­al. The club's Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, Matthew Pierre said the an­nu­al event brought the var­i­ous com­mu­ni­ties in the south-east re­gion to­geth­er in a day of fun ac­tiv­i­ties. "Our main ob­jec­tives are to build com­mu­ni­ty spir­it in the re­gion and to raise funds for our char­i­ta­ble events. This is the best fam­i­ly day since in­cep­tion and we thank all the teams for mak­ing it a tremen­dous suc­cess," said Pierre.
