T&T Under-20 Soca Warriors will be going after a second win from as many matches when they come up against Suriname today from 5.30 pm as Group Four matches in the Caribbean Football Union's Group Four Qualifiers for the Concacaf Championships continue at the Victoria Park, Kingstown, St Vincent and The Grenadines. The young Soca Warriors kicked off their qualification campaign to the FIFA World Cup in Turkey next year, with a 2-1 win over Guyana on Wednesday.
T&T took the lead in the tenth minute through W Connection midfielder Jomal Williams before Trayon Bobb equalised for Guyana, three minutes before the half-time whistle. However, five minutes after the re-start, another W Connection youngster, Adan Noel restored T&T's slim advantage which it held until the final whistle. In the other match, Suriname edged host St Vincent and The Grenadines 1-0. T&T?will start favourites against Suriname, who they defeated 2-1 twice during the 2010 qualifiers.
Guyana and St Vincent and The Grenadines will also meet. The final round of matches takes place on Sunday, with T&T meeting St Vincent and The Grenadines from 7.30 pm and Guyana and Suriname squaring off two hours earlier. In Group One, there were wins for Antigua and Barbuda and Curacao on Wednesday night, 3-1 and 4-0 over Grenada and Dominica, respectively. Today, Dominica faces Curacao and Antigua & Barbuda battles Grenada while on Sunday, Grenada meets Dominica, and Antigua & Barbuda tackles Curacao. At the end of Sunday's matches, the group winner will advance to the eight-team CFU Final Round in November in Jamaica. Out of the eight-team CFU Finals (including group winners, three best second placed finishers and hosts Jamaica), five teams will advance to the Concacaf finals in Mexico next February from which four teams advances to the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey. Already, Cuba and Haiti as winners of CFU qualifying Groups Two and Three respectively have secured places in Jamaica along with Puerto Rico, which was second to Haiti based on goal-difference while Nicaragua is through to the Concacaf Under-20 Championship finals for the first time in its history, beating host Honduras 1-0 to join fellow Central American side Costa Rica.
