A full slate of matches is on the cards today in the T&T Rugby Football Union (T&TRFU) Toyota Championship Division League (CDL), including a key battle which sees Caribs hosting Royalians, at Caribs Pitch, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, from 4.30 pm. Caribs, which won the championship on the last day of the 2011 season, remains three points clear at the top of the standings, after taking a 17-10 win over previous leader Harvard last Saturday. Unlike its Senior Division outfit, Caribs’ championship team is on a fine run of form taking three consecutive wins since the season commenced last month.  Royalians, meanwhile, started off with a convincing 44-5 win over Police on the opening day, but slumped to a 15-8 loss to Stag Trinidad Northern, on the second match-day. Royalians is in fourth position, similar to its finish in the last campaign, but remains with a match in hand, after its fixture against Rainbow last weekend was postponed to next Saturday.

It will have the opportunity to leapfrog Northern with a win, while Northern can take Harvard’s position in second when the latter two teams meet today. Harvard, which lost its only match this season in the CDL last week will host Northern at Harvard Pitch, QPS, at the same time. The other fixture will see a clash of the bottom two teams, when second-to-last Rainbow travels to the Police Academy Ground, St James, to take on last-placed struggling Police. There will also be an under-17 fixture, today, with a clash between Northern and Rainbow, at Defence Force Pitch (Pitch Four), QPS, at 3 pm. Rainbow will play its first match of the division today, while Northern, second on points-difference plays its second. Northern defeated Exiles 44-12 in the season opener last Sunday. Action will continue in the said division tomorrow when Eastern Ruggers plays Harvard at Harvard Pitch, while Royalians hosts Exiles at Royalians Pitch. All under-17 matches begin at 3 pm. The match of the day on Sunday, however, will be a clash of the top two in the Senior Division League, when leader Harvard hosts UWI at Harvard Pitch, from 4.30 pm.
