T&T’s Jelani Davidson lived up to his billing as the number one seed when he beat Bajan number two Andrew Symmonds 6-4, 6-4 to cop the Boys Under 14 Singles title on the penultimate day of the Coca Cola ITF Junior Tournament at St Lucia’s National Tennis Centre yesterday. A short while later, he narrowly missed out on a second title when he and countryman Nabeel Mohammed were edged 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 by locals Tjimon Louisy and James Stevenson in the Doubles final. Meanwhile, in the Girls Under 18 Singles semifinals, third seed Breana Stampfli was upstaged by number one Madison Bourguignon of the USA, who came out on top 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Stampfli will have another shot at the American during the Doubles final today, when she and Korean partner Jeung Won Yang take on Bourguignon and her older sister Alexandra.
