While congratulating the Jamaican people on their achievements at the London 2012 Olympics, national cricket captain Denesh Ramdin says that this coming weekend they will not be winners and will have to settle for second place, when they meet T&T in two T20 matches at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida, USA. T&T played Jamaica in the first game on Friday night and will meet them from 6 pm again this evening at the same venue. Speaking ahead at a reception for the teams held at the Westin Hotel Ramdin said :We have a healthy rivalry with the Jamaicans and we are looking forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary of Independence with them, as they are celebrating the milestone as well. We are here to play hard cricket as we prepare for the Champions League in South Africa and we are going to give the fans some good quality cricket no doubt.”

T&T are preparing for the Champions League in South Africa in November and has a very youthful squad up here. Ramdin was however excited to see what the young players bring to the table. “Although we will be missing the senior guys, I am very excited to see what the young players can do. Since returning to the camp over the last few days I am happy with what I am seeing from them and this gives me a certain excitement going into these games. “Although the experienced men are missing and it is a blow to us, we have these youngters and it is now a time for one or two of them to announce themselves with big performances.” The national players, along with the Jamaican players met with Neil Parsan Ambassador to Washington, as well as Consul General for Miami, Dr. Anil Ramnanan and Jamaica's Consul General for the Southern America Sandra Grant Griffiths at the Westin Hotel on Thursday night. Ramnanan during his address to the gathering said: “We saw this cricket challenge as a great way of introducing the non-diaspora up here to our way of life. Cricket has told the story of our lives in the Caribbean and we embraced it as a critical part of the Independence celebrations.”
