T&T's Nku Patrick and Chase Mac­quan made it to round two of the men's in­di­vid­ual match­es of the Caribbean Area Squash As­so­ci­a­tion (CASA) Se­nior Cham­pi­onships which served off yes­ter­day at the Cas­ca­dia Squash Club, St Ann's.

Mac­quan reg­is­tered a 3-1 win over Ja­maica's Chris Bin­nie in their first round match. Bin­nie won the first set 11-9 but could not main­tain his win­ning form in the fol­low­ing sets, as he went un­der 12-10, 11-3, 11-6. T&T's Pe­ter Pirtheesingh un­for­tu­nate­ly could not get the bet­ter of Shane Slater who clinched a tight 3-2 win in their round one match. The Or­gan­i­sa­tion of the East­ern Caribbean States play­er even­tu­al­ly got the up­per hand on Pirtheesingh (5-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8) in a thrilling bat­tle.

In the women's in­di­vid­u­als, T&T's Gen Shim and Jo­han­na Au­gus­tus failed to get the bet­ter of their op­po­nents. Shim faced Guyana's Ash­ley De­G­root who took an ear­ly 11-4 lead in the first set. Shim re­spond­ed with an 11-3 come­back but, was beat­en 11-3 in the fol­low­ing to sets by her Guyanese op­po­nent. Au­gus­tus con­ced­ed a 3-0 de­feat to Ja­maican Alyssa Mullings who tri­umphed 11-3, 11-5, 11-4. Round two match­es in the men's in­di­vid­u­als con­tin­ued yes­ter­day af­ter press time with lo­cal play­ers Col­in Ra­mas­ra, Josh Pinard, Kale Wil­son, Man­dela Patrick and Ryan Abra­ham set to play. Round two of the women's in­di­vid­u­als serves off to­day with lo­cal play­ers Rhea Khan, Faith Gillezeau, Ker­rie Sam­ple and Jes­si­ca Scott ex­pect­ed to play.
