Ty Abra­ham was T&T's lone suc­cess as 16 of his com­rades suf­fered first round elim­i­na­tions on the open­ing day of the To­ba­go ITF Ju­niors' Main Draw at Shaw Park yes­ter­day. In the Boys Un­der 18 di­vi­sion, Abra­ham had just won the first set 6-0 when his op­po­nent Ba­jan Justin Hig­gs of Barab­dos pulled out, grant­i­ng the lo­cal a pass in­to round two.

Among the ca­su­al­ties in that group in­clud­ed Abra­ham's twin broth­er and num­ber eight seed Joshua, who was beat­en 6-4, 6-5 by Cana­di­an William Tutecky, and sev­enth seed Jualon Greig, a 6-3, 6-3 los­er to Amer­i­can Vic­tor Gure­vich.

Mean­while, in the Girls Un­der 18 cat­e­go­ry, Caris­sa Ro­dul­fo lost 6-2, 6-0 to Amer­i­can Jen­na Friedel, Do­minique Coutain was beat­en 6-2, 6-0 by An­tiguan D'Jeri Ray­mond and Sha­nia Milling­ton went down 7-5, 6-1 to Ba­jan Cherise Slo­combe.

Fourth seed Bre­ana Stampfli re­ceived a bye and will take on St Lu­cian Ju­lia D'Au­vergne in to­day's ac­tion.
