Stage seven of the Tour of T&T Independence Cycle Classic was abandoned yesterday due to inclement weather and flooding. The Compton Gonsalves Stage, which began on the Brian Lara Promenade in Port-of-Spain came to a stop in Oropouche in South Trinidad. The race was to end at Frisco Junction in Point Fortin. President of the T&T Cycling Federation (TTCF), Rowena Williams explained that it was unfortunate that the race came to a premature end.

"We had just finished taking the sprint team to Gulf City. "We passed the Creek (Mosquito Creek) and headed down to Dow Village, where there was a back up of traffic. "The cyclists got off their bikes and proceeded to run through the water along with one police bike but the rest of officials were unable to pass through the water and traffic so we were left with no choice but to cancel the race," said Williams. Stage nine, the Ahamad Charles Stage a 96 kilometre road race, will pedal off at 2 pm today at Frisco Junction to San Fernando and end at the BP Resource Centre in Mayaro.
