Malvern Sports Club will host a series of activities to celebrate its 70th anniversary. The activities begin on September 22, with a thanksgiving service at the All Saints Anglican Church, Marli Street, Queen’s Park Savannah, and conclude with a regional hockey tournament at the Hockey Centre, Tacarigua, from September 29-30. The theme of its celebrations is “Vintage Wine and White” as the club pays homage to the colours recognised nationally and regionally due to the exploits of its football team “the Woodbrook Glamour Boys,” between the 1950s and the 1960s.

The launch of Malvern’s celebrations was held recently at its club house, Woodford Street, Newtown. Among those present were football legends Carlton “Squeakie” Hinds, Kelvin Berrassa and Clive Niles, along with former club President and national football administrator Peter O’Connor and members of long-standings rivals, Maple Football Club. In his remarks, club president Elton Prescott paid tribute to Malvern’s founders for their vision, and referred to the special role which institutions like Malvern Sports Club plays in moulding youth in T&T. The schedule for Malvern’s celebration activities were also provided at the launch. See itinerary below:
