A win for Caribs Rugby Football Club today over Royalians will see the champion retain second spot in the T&T Rugby Football Union (T&TRFU) Toyota Champion Division, when the lone, rescheduled match of the division kicks off at Caribs' Pitch, Queen's Park Savannah, from 4.30 pm. The "Beer Boys" have won all three matches thus far this season and now sit seven points behind Harvard but with two matches in hand. They will cut the deficit by two points, granted the team earns a bonus point with four or more tries. The champion has been out of action for the past two weeks, following a 17-10 victory over the current leader.
The Royalians, meanwhile, have not been convincing, with only one win in their four matches. A victory, however, will see them overtake current fourth placed team Stag Trinidad Northern, which is struggling to find form with only two wins in five matches. Meanwhile, the first round of Women's league matches will commence today with all four teams in action.
At Royalians' pitch, Queen's Park Savannah, champion Royalians will clash with Caribs at 2.30 pm, while Romans challenge Police in St James from the same time.
Tobago, UWI in Marcus Minshall opener
The Marcus Minshall Cup is set to start today in First Round action, when a pair of Senior Division teams, Tobago Rugby Football Club and the University of the West Indies (UWI) convene in Tobago from 4.30 pm. The two teams will vie for a spot in the quarter-final versus reigning champion Caribs, which will be played next Sunday. Tomorrow, the second First Round fixture will see Caribs 2 taking on Rainbow 2 at Harvard Pitch, Queen's Park Savannah, also at 4.30 pm.
